Companies that operate in these sectors are classified as innovative representatives of the business world. The WSB University takes care to develop the creativity and engineering competences of students, e.g. through their participation in interesting scientific and research projects or through the preparation of appreciated by employers educational programs. In the last three years, students of Computer Science, Management and International Relations have been involved in an international project entitled „A Knowledge Alliance between HEIs, Makers and Manufacturers to boost Open Design & Manufacturing in Europe – OD&M”. They worked with scientists and representatives of makers from Italy, Spain, UK, the Netherlands and China, creating, prototypes like smart clothes.
The next step to bring WSB University graduates closer to working in the creative sector is the implementation of the project called „INTRIDE – Soft, Digital and Green Skills for Smart Designers: Designers as Innovative TRIggers for SMEs in the manufacturing sector”. The WSB University, in partnership with the Castle in Cieszyn and with partners from Italy, Romania and Spain, is working on a joint study program, which will be a competency solution to the challenges that Smart Specializations pose to traditional manufacturing companies. As part of the project, an international networking platform will also be created, which will be a place to activate and monitor innovation, technological transfer, research and development processes as part of cooperation between enterprises, universities and technology centers. In 2020, the project partners conducted a study of competency needs in the traditional manufacturing sector in Italy, Spain, Poland and Romania.
The „INTRIDE” project is implemented thanks to funding from the ERASMUS + Knowledge Alliances program, which focuses on knowledge alliances between universities and socio-economic actors to support innovation in education and business and the wider socio-economic environment, develop entrepreneurial skills in society, stimulate and facilitate the flow of knowledge between universities and businesses.
INTRIDE is an alliance of 10 partners, which, apart from the WSB University and Cieszyn Castle, are:
