Summary of the 3-year term of office of the SA&AM Cluster Programme Board

On Thursday, 23 February, a meeting of the Council of the Silesia Automotive & Advanced Manufacturing Cluster was held at the WSB University, summarising the 2020 - 2023 term.

The meeting was inaugurated by Dr. Janusz Michałek, Chairman of the SA&AM Cluster Programme Council, President of the Board of the Katowice Special Economic Zone. During the meeting, the last three years of the Cluster's activity were summarised and the report was made by Łukasz Górecki, Cluster Director. Afterwards, the members of the Programme Council were thanked for their three-year term and the implementation of numerous projects during it. WSB University is actively involved in the on-going activities of the SA&AM Cluster, therefore, as part of the meeting, Dr Marcin Lis, Prof. AWSB - Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Cooperation with the Environment, presented the scientific potential of WSB University.

The Silesia Automotive & Advanced Manufacturing Cluster is one of the most important clusters in the country, which is confirmed by the obtained certificate of a National Key Cluster. The aim of the SA&AM Cluster is to build a strong platform in the region for the exchange of knowledge and cooperation between companies from the automotive sector, suppliers of new digital technologies, educational, scientific and business environment institutions. The cluster carries out activities focused around two pillars: Innovation and Cooperation and Labour Market and Education.

Katowicka Specjalna Strefa Ekonomiczna S.A. is a leader among Polish special economic zones, which is confirmed by the fact that it is ranked first in Europe and third worldwide (according to the latest Financial Times ranking). The KSEZ covers the Silesian Voivodeship and 6 poviats of the Opolskie Voivodeship. There are currently more than 500 companies operating there, which have invested a total of around 42 billion PLN and created 90,000 jobs. The KSEZ is committed to linking science and business, building partnerships in the investment process, effective cooperation between Poland and foreign countries and support in providing highly qualified staff to meet the needs of the labour market and our entrepreneurs.
