The title of professor for Mr Robert Socha

We are pleased to announce that on 8 March 2023, by decision of the President of the Republic of Poland, Mr Robert Socha was awarded the title of Professor of Social Sciences in the discipline of Security Sciences.
We would like to extend our warmest congratulations to the Professor and wish him further success in the implementation of his academic plans and intentions, as well as all the best in his professional and personal life.

Prof. Robert Socha

Author of more than 180 scientific publications, published both nationally and internationally, in countries such as: USA, UK, Spain, Federal Republic of Germany, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Hungary, Serbia, Ukraine, Latvia, Georgia and Turkey.

His scientific activity also includes participation in scientific internships at national and international scientific institutions, including the University of Applied Sciences in Velika Gorica, Croatia, within the framework of the Erasmus programme, the Technical University of Ostrava and the Lviv State University of Life. In 2019, he was nominated as Substitute Member Management Committee for COST Action (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) No. CA18236 "Multi-disciplinary innovation for social change (SHINE)".

His current roles include Director of the Academic Centre for Auschwitz and Holocaust Education and Editor-in-Chief of WSB University's academic journal Security Forum.

For his activities in the field of security, science and didactics, he has been repeatedly awarded by the state (Bronze Cross of Merit) and departmental decorations (Silver Medal "Guardian of Memorial Sites"; Honorary Badge of the Minister of Health "For Merits to Health") as well as awards from local government and self-government administration bodies (Honorary Gold Medal of the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship "For Merits to the Silesian Voivodeship"), and from the university authorities.

In 2008, at the Strategic and Defence Department of the National Defence Academy, he defended his doctoral thesis entitled "Defence preparations of armed formations on the example of the Police in Poland", developed under the scientific supervision of Prof. Waldemar Kitler, obtaining the degree of Doctor of Military Science in the specialisation of national security.

In 2014, on the basis of his accumulated scientific, didactic and organisational achievements and his monograph entitled: Activities of the Polish Police in states of emergency. Experiences. Current state. Improvement, the Council of the Department of National Security at the Academy of National Defence conferred the degree of doctor habilitated in social sciences in the discipline of security sciences.

The culmination of many years of research, conducted both nationally and internationally, is the scientific monograph Historic and Contemporary Perceptions of the Police in Poland, published in 2022.
