"Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" the first Peter Robinson lecture

Yesterday was the first in a series of lectures with Peter Robinson of Stanford University, who for years was President Ronald Reagan's speechwriter.

The lecture, 'President Reagan and the "tear down this wall" Berlin address', was about the famous speech at the Brandenburg Gate in June 1987, where US President Ronald Reagan called on the leader of the USSR to tear down the Berlin Wall. Students were able to hear how this famous speech, which undoubtedly had an impact on the subsequent geopolitical situation in Europe, was created. It was also an opportunity to discuss the creation of the speech itself, as well as analogies to current situations in Europe. Possible scenarios for the speech that could be delivered at the present time in Kiev were discussed. The lecture attracted a lot of interest also from other universities in the Metropolis; there were also students and employees of the University of Silesia and the Silesian University of Technology.

Peter Robinson's next lecture on "The Importance of Speeches and How to Write Them" is scheduled for 24 May 2022 (15:00 - 16:00). Registration opportunity coming soon. Want to find out more about the project click here
