The 3rd International Congress on Sustainable Development Landscape Planning and Territorial Governance was held (online) on 19 to 21 October 2021.
This year the main organizer of this prestigious international event was the Polytechnic Institute in Portalegre (Portugal). Once again WSB University was one of the co-organizers of the congress, in cooperation with the University of Extremadura (Spain), the University of Azores (Portugal), the FISAT Foundation (Peru), the University of Madeira (Portugal), the University of Évora (Portugal) and the CIP Institute from Belgrade (Serbia).
The main objective of the congress was to explore emerging issues and future challenges in territorial governance and public management, as well as research from other fields that may have an impact on sustainable development.
In this context, participants discussed topics such as cross-border and inter-regional cooperation, as well as inter-organizational cooperation. Issues such as : smart cities, biodiversity policy and strategies, transport system accessibility issues, sustainable management of tourism, culture and renewable energy, circular and green economy, environmental laws and legislation, and migration flows - strategies, management and planning.
Assoc. prof. Rui Alexandre Castanho, PhD was a representative of the WSB University, actively participating in the congress and acting as the event coordinator. The event was also attended by students. Malika Aitaliyeva, a student of International Relations, Sandeep Tayal and Katarzyna Pamula, a students of Management, presented the results of their scientific research.
We are very pleased to announce that Sandeep Tayal, presenting his work entitled "Modeling a Self-sustaining Ecovillage: Using Traditional Practices in Asian Countries", was awarded the prestigious Best Young Research Paper award.
