Screening of the film "The Midwife" with the participation of director Maria Stachurska
The story of Stanisława Leszczyńska, a pre-war midwife who saved the lives of newborn babies after being imprisoned in Auschwitz-Birkenau, at a special screening at WSB University.
On Monday 8 May, a special screening of the documentary 'Midwife', directed by Maria Stachurska, took place in the Maximum Auditorium. On this day, Midwifery Day is celebrated in Poland, established in honour of Stanisława Leszczyńska.
The screening was followed by a discussion with the participation of:
- Ms Maria Stachurska - director of the film,
- Ms Dagmara Leszkowicz-Zaluska - deputy editor-in-chief of the Polish Press Agency,
- dr Anna Janik - Chairwoman of the Regional Council of Nurses and Midwives in Katowice,
- Ms Jadwiga Galuszkiewicz - Chairwoman of the Beskid Regional Chamber of Nurses and Midwives in Katowice.
The discussion was chaired by Dr Edyta Nowak-Żółty, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of the WSB University in Cieszyn.
