In September 27th, 2024, the VR4Skills consortium held its fifth online Transnational Project Meeting (TPM) to assess the project's progress and strategize forthcoming initiatives. The VR4Skills project, co-funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ program, aims to enhance the competencies of international non-teaching and support staff in European higher education institutions through the integration of Virtual Reality (VR) technology.
Key discussion points during the meeting included:
- Evaluation of Pilot Training Sessions: The consortium reviewed feedback from recent pilot training sessions, which incorporated VR scenarios to provide immersive learning experiences. Insights gained from participants are instrumental in refining the training modules to better address the identified skill gaps.
- Development of VR Learning Environment: Progress on the creation of a comprehensive VR learning platform was discussed, focusing on its design, functionality, and user engagement strategies. This platform is intended to offer interactive and practical training experiences for university administrative staff.
- Preparation for Multiplier Events: Plans for upcoming multiplier events were deliberated, aiming to disseminate the project's outcomes to a broader audience and encourage the adoption of VR-enhanced training methodologies across higher education institutions.
The meeting underscored the consortium's commitment to leveraging innovative technologies to address the evolving needs of higher education professionals in a post-pandemic era. By integrating VR into training frameworks, the VR4Skills project seeks to provide effective international services and foster an inclusive academic environment.
