VR4Skills Project Releases Comprehensive Gap Analysis - March 2023

The VR4Skills project, co-funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ program, has published a comprehensive Gap Analysis Report. This pivotal document identifies the existing skill gaps among non-academic staff in European higher education institutions, providing a foundation for developing targeted training modules enhanced by Virtual Reality (VR) technology.

Key Findings of the Gap Analysis:

  • Digital Competencies: A significant need for advanced digital skills was identified, emphasizing the importance of proficiency in emerging technologies and digital tools essential for modern educational environments.
  • Intercultural Communication: The analysis highlighted a gap in intercultural competencies, underscoring the necessity for staff to effectively engage in diverse and international academic settings.
  • Leadership and Management Skills: There is a discernible need for enhanced leadership and management capabilities to navigate the complexities of contemporary higher education administration.
  • Mental and Cognitive Well-being: The report points to a requirement for better strategies in managing mental health and cognitive workload, aiming to improve overall staff well-being and productivity.

These insights will inform the development of the VR4Skills training framework, ensuring it addresses the specific needs of university administrative personnel. By leveraging VR technology, the project aims to deliver immersive and effective training experiences that bridge these identified gaps.
