Standard for creating e-exams

The Rector's Ordinance on establishing standards for preparing written, test-based exams and assessments using the OnlineWSB and Inspera platforms is in effect.

The adopted electronic examination Standard at the University includes recommendations and methodological, organizational, and technical requirements, with the primary goal of improving the process of verifying learning outcomes.

Exams and assessments prepared by teachers undergo an audit during and after each examination session,

Key Guidelines for Teachers Regarding the Creation and Administration of E-Exams:

I. Organizational Requirements

1. The planned dates of examinations (zero, first and second attempts) must be agreed with the      staff of the Dean’s Office.

2. Examinations conducted on the Inspera Assessment platform must be reported no later than      14 days before the earliest scheduled examination date. Examinations are reported to the
    Dean’s Office and simultaneously to the Electronic Examination Centre.

3. The examination request should include: the course name, the names of student groups,
     and confirmed dates for the zero, first, and second examination sessions.

For examinations on the Inspera platform, the request must be sent by email to the Electronic Examination Centre: centrum-egzaminacyjne@wsb.edu.pl.

II. Methodological Requirements for the exam question bank:

1. The examination test should be preceded by a description of the examination rules,
    containing information on the date, duration, rules for providing answers, and grading criteria.

2. The test should consist of at least four types of questions, e.g. single-choice, multiple-choice,         true/false, matching, drag-and-drop, numerical, or sequencing, with answers presented in
     a random order.

3. The test questions should be randomly selected from a larger question bank.

4. The question bank should include:
    a) questions placed in categories or thematic sections,
    b) for exams with up to 10 random questions - at least three times as many
        questions in the bank,
    c) for exams with 11 or more random questions - at least twice as many questions.

III. Technical Requirements:

To improve the quality of learning outcome verification and minimize undesirable behaviors,
the following technical parameters should be set:

    a) time limits appropriate to the test content, with an exam window at least 15 minutes longer          than the exam duration;
    b) one attempt only per student;
    c) grading scale consistent with the university standard, defining the number of points per                answer, the maximum score, and the percentage required to pass;
    d) enable the final grade to be visible in the student’s account, with the option to review exam          questions upon request after the exam;
    e) use exam security mechanisms such as blocking mechanism.

IV. Recommendations and Best Practices:

1. It is recommended to create and submit the exam question bank earlier than 14 days before        the scheduled start of the exam.

2. A complete question bank should contain at least five times the number of questions planned      for the exam.

3. It is recommended to change at least 10% of the questions in the database for each exam            session, even if the bank is already complete.

4. It is recommended to use mathematical input, code compiler, hotspot, audio recording, text        area, matching, and fill-in-the-blank question types to assess practical skills.

5. On the Inspera platform, it is recommended to use text-to-speech functionality for visually            impaired students.
