Gabriela Węglarz, Coordinator for Academic Mobility, and Dr Piotr Krowicki, Assistant Professor at the Department of Management of WSB University, visited the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) as part of the Erasmus+ academic mobility programme.

NUST has been a long-standing partner of WSB University. It is a leading academic centre in Namibia, educating students primarily in the STEM fields. Its graduates are highly valued in the labour market in the country and the region, and the university actively cooperates with industry, the public sector, and civil society through various initiatives.

During the visit, meetings were held with representatives of NUST’s International Relations Office, where ongoing mobility projects were discussed. Gabriela Węglarz shared good practices in the areas of internationalisation, recruitment for the Erasmus+ programme, and the concept of “internationalisation at home”. Dr Piotr Krowicki met with representatives of the Department of Marketing, which resulted in ideas for joint COIL-type projects and future publications.

A special highlight of the programme was Dr Piotr Krowicki’s open lecture on marketing in the area of social innovation. He presented both the theoretical foundations of this topic and practical examples, such as intergenerational dance (Facebook), mobile applications, and facilities for people with disabilities. The lecture attracted a large audience of active students who eagerly shared their insights and - importantly - were inspired to introduce social innovations in their local context.

The visit had an educational and training character, while also allowing for a deeper understanding of the culture and specifics of the Sub-Saharan African region. The experience gained will certainly contribute to the development of further joint projects. The Erasmus+ programme offers a unique opportunity to broaden competences and enrich daily administrative and academic work.
