WSB University donates 3D printers to schools as part of the Erasmus+ project “3D Smartbox”

WSB University has donated six 3D printers to schools in Zabrze and Dąbrowa Górnicza as part of the international project “3D Printing in Education: Improved Student Engagement with Hands-On Learning – 3D Smartbox”, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme.

The new 3D printers were handed over to:

  • 3rd General Secondary School with Bilingual Classes in Zabrze,
  • A. Mickiewicz Primary School No. 8 in Dąbrowa Górnicza,
  • General Władysław Anders High School No. 3 in Dąbrowa Górnicza.

Teachers from these schools have already participated in an international 3D printing training, where they gained both technical and pedagogical skills necessary to effectively integrate 3D printing into their curricula. In the next phase, the schools will launch a pilot programme using 3D printing in education – teachers will incorporate 3D printing into classroom activities to support curriculum content, foster creativity, and enhance student engagement.

The 3D Smartbox project addresses key needs in modern education by:

  • improving teachers’ competencies in integrating 3D printing into the learning process,
  • developing practical skills for using hardware, software, and 3D printing materials effectively,
  • fostering innovation in school curricula and creating new teaching methods and assignments,
  • building an international network of educators to share experiences, ideas, and best practices.

The results of the students’ work will be presented in spring, during joint workshops at the Design Thinking Lab of WSB University, which is expanding its activities by incorporating 3D printing into design thinking education and creative learning.
