ENTER-CBL Platform: Digital Gateway to Challenge-Based Learning for Entrepreneurship
How do we help students build an entrepreneurial mindset in a way that feels real, engaging, and future-proof? ENTER-CBL answers this question by turning Challenge-Based Learning (CBL) into an accessible, ready-to-use digital experience for both educators and learners - supported by a scalable online ecosystem designed to work across institutions.
What is the ENTER-CBL Platform?
The ENTER-CBL Online Platform is a multi-layer digital ecosystem created to support the delivery of Challenge-Based Learning in entrepreneurship education. It was implemented under Work Package 4 (WP4) and operationalized based on needs, requirements and recommendations identified during the pre-implementation phase - with a strong focus on usability, openness, and scalability.
A simple ecosystem that removes barriers to entry
The ENTER-CBL Platform works as a connected ecosystem of three components:
- ENTER-CBL Project Website - the dissemination and visibility layer
- ENTER-CBL Gate - a WordPress-based “front door” and onboarding space
- ENTER-CBL Hub - the Moodle-based learning and collaboration environment
This architecture makes the platform easy to discover, simple to enter, and practical to use - whether you are an educator looking for resources or a student ready to develop entrepreneurship skills through real challenges.
ENTER-CBL Gate: a “front door” designed for fast onboarding
The ENTER-CBL Gate is built to guide users quickly and clearly. It introduces the project and CBL approach, provides calls-to-action to learning resources, and supports a streamlined onboarding flow - helping users move into the Hub without getting lost in complex institutional procedures.
ENTER-CBL Hub: the operational learning environment
The ENTER-CBL Hub is the platform’s core learning space, implemented on Moodle - selected for its open-source character, scalability, security, and strong partner familiarity. This approach also avoided the cost and complexity of developing a new LMS from scratch.
To keep the experience intuitive and role-focused, the Hub is structured into two main areas:
- Hub for Educators
- Hub for Learners
This structure supports clear navigation, role-based engagement, and fast access to what each user group needs most.
What educators can do on ENTER-CBL:
1) Complete certified, self-paced CBL teacher training
Educators can follow a certified self-study programme designed to build competence in designing and delivering CBL-based courses. The training is structured for independent learning and scalable uptake across institutions.
2) Use MicroLearnings in real teaching practice
Educators also gain access to MicroLearnings that can be completed for professional development and reused directly in class - including in entrepreneurship and interdisciplinary courses.
3) Download templates, guides, and teaching assets
The Hub includes templates and methodological materials aligned with CBL, helping educators move from “I like the idea” to “I can implement this next week.”
4) Learn with others through community exchange
CBL grows stronger through practice, reflection, and sharing. That’s why ENTER-CBL includes forums that support peer-to-peer learning, exchange of good practices, and practical tips for implementation.
What learners can do on ENTER-CBL:
1) Follow a structured set of 12 MicroLearnings
Learners access 12 short, focused, self-paced MicroLearnings designed to support entrepreneurial mindset and transversal skills - in a format that fits real student life.
2) Earn badges and unlock a final certificate
Learning progress is visible and motivating: learners collect digital badges for each MicroLearning and earn the final “Champion of ENTER-CBL MicroLearnings” certificate after completing all 12.
3) Participate in real courses supported by the Hub
Beyond MicroLearnings, the Hub hosts courses used regularly in entrepreneurship education and related learning activities, supporting collaboration, submissions, reflection, and feedback.
Why ENTER-CBL makes implementation easier
ENTER-CBL was designed around practical goals that matter for institutions and teaching teams. The platform supports:
- exchange of experience and knowledge via repositories, educator spaces, and discussion forums
- dissemination through the Gate and project website, plus Hub announcements and structured libraries
- participatory learning through role-based access, forums, feedback mechanisms, and asynchronous collaboration
- direct support for entrepreneurship courses, including examples where platform resources enabled course redesign toward challenge-driven learning
