Important Information for International Candidates: New Procedure for Recognition of Foreign Education Documents
Starting July 1, 2025, the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) will be the sole institution responsible for the recognition of foreign education documents required for academic purposes in Poland.
The entire process will be conducted online via the newly launched SYRENA platform: https://syrena.nawa.gov.pl/
Mandatory Procedure
All candidates who do not yet hold a recognition decision must complete the recognition process through NAWA. If you already have a valid recognition decision, you do not need to apply again.
Who is this for?
If you hold a foreign education document (e.g., secondary school certificate, diploma) and plan to:
- begin first-cycle (Bachelor/Engineering) studies, or
- continue your education in second-cycle (Master’s) studies in Poland,
- you are required to apply for an Individual Recognition Statement via the SYRENA system.

Required documents:
- A scanned copy of your certificate/diploma (PDF or JPG, max. 3 MB)
- A translation of the document if it is not in one of the accepted languages: English, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Ukrainian, or Belarusian
- Passport or valid ID
- Additional documents, if applicable (e.g., transcript, admission confirmation)
Additional Information:
- The service is free of charge
- Processing time is up to 60 days from the moment a complete application is submitted
- You can track the status of your request directly within the SYRENA system
