A diploma-awarding ceremony for graduates of second-cycle degree programmes and long-cycle Master’s degree programmes of the Faculty of Applied Sciences was held in the Auditorium Maximum of WSB University. It was a special moment summarising years of learning, development and commitment, while also symbolically opening a new stage in the graduates’ professional lives.

The event was attended by graduates of the following programmes: Administration, National Security, Computer Science, Logistics, Pedagogy, Pre-school and Early School Pedagogy, Transport, Management, and Financial Management and Accounting. They were accompanied by representatives of the University authorities, members of the Senate, thesis supervisors, academic teachers, invited guests, as well as family members and friends.

The ceremony began with the entrance of the graduates and the procession of the WSB University Senate. The gathered guests were welcomed by Prof. Marcin Lis, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and External Relations, who congratulated the graduates on completing their studies and emphasised the importance of the knowledge, competencies and experience they had gained.

Awards for academic achievement and the best diploma theses

One of the most important parts of the ceremony was the presentation of awards and distinctions. In the 2025/2026 academic year, at the request of thesis supervisors and reviewers, the Rector of WSB University honoured the authors of 65 diploma theses. Awards for very good academic results were received by 14 graduates, while further individuals were granted special distinctions.

Graduates who achieved the highest grade averages in their respective programmes received congratulations and educational vouchers, which may be used for selected forms of further education at WSB University.

During the ceremony, the authors of the best diploma theses were also honoured. The distinctions were presented by representatives of the University authorities and thesis supervisors who had supported the students while they prepared their Master’s theses.

Leader of the Year 2026

The title of Leader of the Year 2026 was awarded to Magdalena Czyżewska-Garncarz, MSc Eng., a graduate of the Transport programme. She received the distinction for very good academic results, active involvement in the academic and organisational life of WSB University, as well as well-developed social and leadership competencies.

The graduate was active in the ITLogis Scientific Club, participated in the interdisciplinary project “Young Scientists Innovate”, and also served as the year representative. She represented students in contacts with the University authorities and academic teachers, while actively supporting her fellow students.

Her Master’s thesis, entitled “Analysis of Air Medical Transport Processes”, prepared under the supervision of Prof. Piotr Uchroński, was also recognised.

Sporting achievements and academic activity

Special distinctions were also awarded to graduates with sporting achievements. Patryk Wiszniowski, Michał Parzelski, Julia Sadowska, Franciszek Szlęzak and Oliwia Żołnowska were honoured.

During the ceremony, an award was also presented to the best reader of the Prof. Jerzy Altkorn Academic Library. It was received by Dariusz Bortnik, a graduate of the National Security programme.

Musical setting of the ceremony

Following the part dedicated to distinctions, the participants listened to an artistic performance by Marta Linek, a graduate of the Instrumental Faculty of the Academy of Music in Katowice. The artist presented work combining the energy of rock music with the sound of classical string instruments.

Diplomas for graduates

The central moment of the event was the ceremonial presentation of diplomas. Graduates received them from their thesis supervisors, Vice-Deans and academic teachers. Each appearance on stage was accompanied by congratulations and applause from the gathered guests.

The ceremony was a symbolic summary of several years of learning, work and development. At the same time, for the graduates it marked the beginning of another stage - further education, professional development and taking on new challenges.

At the conclusion, Prof. Marcin Lis summarised the ceremony and once again congratulated all graduates. After the official part, participants were invited to take commemorative photographs and enjoy refreshments together.
