A Life-Saving Course at WSB University – New Authorizations Granted to the University

In crisis situations, concrete skills, rapid response, and sometimes preparation confirmed by formal qualifications are what matter most. WSB University has obtained approval for its qualified first aid course programme, which means that it is now authorized to conduct Qualified First Aid (KPP) courses compliant with the requirements of the State Emergency Medical Services system.

This is an important decision for individuals who, through their work, service, or social activity, may find themselves closest to an incident requiring immediate assistance. The KPP course is intended, among others, for representatives of uniformed services, firefighters, water and mountain rescuers, members of rescue organizations, individuals working in units cooperating with the State Emergency Medical Services system, as well as anyone wishing to gain practical preparation for providing assistance in life- and health-threatening situations.

The course will also be available, among others, to students of the postgraduate programme “Population Protection and Civil Defence” conducted at WSB University. This is particularly important in the context of educating individuals preparing for tasks related to security, crisis management, population protection, and responding to emergency situations.

Qualified first aid includes actions undertaken before the arrival of an emergency medical team. It is knowledge and practical skills that may determine the speed, quality of response, and effectiveness of support provided to an injured person.

It is worth emphasizing an important distinction: the KPP course grants the title of rescuer in the field of qualified first aid; however, this is not equivalent to obtaining the profession of a paramedic. WSB University also offers degree studies in Emergency Medical Services, which prepare students to practise a separate medical profession within the healthcare system.
