A Swedish Lesson in Security. WSB University Co-Creates an International Standard of Civil Protection

Familiarization with the Swedish civil protection system and the solutions applied within the framework of the so-called “total defence” model constituted the main objective of a study visit by a Polish delegation to Malmö. The delegation included representatives of the Małopolska Voivodeship Office, including Dr. Krzysztof Jan Klęczar – the Małopolska Voivode, as well as experts from WSB University: Professor Marek Walancik – Director of the Centre for Research and Education of Uniformed Services at WSB University, Dr. Eng. Zbigniew Kopa, and Dr. Grzegorz Matuszek from the Department of Security Sciences.

An important element of the visit was a meeting with the Governor of Skåne – Peter Danielsson, and the Director for Security – Niklas Nordgren. The discussions focused on the exchange of experience in the areas of civil defence, civil protection, and security education.
One of the key points of the programme was a visit to the company SkyddsprodukterSverige AB, a leader in the field of shelter equipment in Sweden. The company provides solutions used in approximately 90% of Swedish shelters, delivering products that meet the highest standards of civil protection.

The presented security model is based on close cooperation between public administration, the military, the private sector, and citizens. It encompasses not only well-developed shelter infrastructure and efficient emergency services, but also extensive public education.
Participants also had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the company’s production and logistics processes, including a shelter equipped, among other things, with an air filtration system and sanitary solutions.

The Swedish side was represented by: Tore Robertsson – Chief Executive Officer, Tomas Petersson – Export Director, Fredrik Beckman – Communications Director, and Eva Nilsson – Chief Financial Officer.

The visit constitutes an important step towards strengthening international cooperation and the exchange of best practices in the field of security and civil protection.
