Representatives of the academic community, local government institutions, and organisations involved in regional development met during the conference “Development Strategy of the Silesian Voivodeship”. The event was organised in cooperation with the Polish Economic Society and WSB University.
The conference was opened by Prof. Marcin Lis, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Cooperation with the Environment at WSB University, and Dr Jerzy Podsiadło, President of the Management Board of the Katowice Branch of the Polish Economic Society.
The speakers included experts representing universities, local government administration, and organisations working for the development of the Silesian Voivodeship.
Presentations were delivered by:
- Dr Krzysztof Wrana, Deputy Director of the AWSB Regional Development Centre and academic lecturer;
- Joanna Miśka, Head of the Department of the Regional Centre for Analysis and Strategic Planning at the Marshal’s Office of the Silesian Voivodeship;
- Dr Mariusz Raczek from the AWSB Regional Development Centre;
- Witold Magryś, Director of the Office of the Silesian Association of Municipalities and Counties;
- Dr Waldemar Szendera from the Upper Silesian Higher School of Entrepreneurship in Chorzów and ComfreyLab; and
- Dominika Gola, MBA, academic lecturer at WSB Merito University in Chorzów.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and opinions regarding the future of the Silesian Voivodeship. Participants discussed directions of development, the challenges faced by local governments, and the importance of cooperation between the academic community, administration, and institutions involved in public affairs.
For many years, the Katowice Branch of the Polish Economic Society has actively participated in the debate concerning economic and social development. Its activities include, among others, the organisation of conferences, seminars, expert debates, and educational initiatives devoted to the most important challenges of the modern economy.
