Diplomas, the Capping Ceremony, and the Professional Oath: WSB University Nursing Graduates Celebrate the Completion of Their Studies

The formal presentation of diplomas, the traditional capping ceremony, and the taking of the professional oath marked the celebration of an important milestone for WSB University Nursing graduates, who shared this special occasion with their families, academic staff, and representatives of the University's authorities.

The ceremony was filled with joy, emotion, and pride in the achievements of the graduates, who received their degree diplomas. The diplomas were presented by Prof. Marcin Lis, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and External Relations at WSB University. The graduates were accompanied by their thesis supervisors, who joined them for commemorative photographs.

Awards for the Best Diploma Theses
During the ceremony, the authors of the best diploma theses were honoured. The awards were presented to Agnieszka Pniok, Marta Musik, Angelika Drabiniok, Agnieszka Chmura, and Michał Lizik. The awards were presented by Dr Anna Janik and Prof. Marcin Lis. The distinctions recognised the high academic quality of the theses, the commitment of their authors, and their ability to apply the knowledge acquired during their studies to important issues related to healthcare and patient care.

A Symbolic Admission to the Profession
One of the most significant moments of the event was the capping ceremony – a unique tradition symbolising the graduates' entry into the nursing profession. Its solemn character served as a reminder of the responsibility, standards, and values associated with the profession of a nurse. Afterwards, in the presence of the WSB University banner, the graduates took the official professional oath:

To provide professional and compassionate care for human health and life at every stage of its course.

To promote health, prevent disease, care for the sick, participate in the therapeutic process, prevent suffering and alleviate its consequences, in accordance with current medical knowledge.

To provide assistance to every person, regardless of age, sex, skin colour, nationality, religion, culture, social status, illness, disability, or sexual orientation.

To treat patients with due respect and empathy, never abuse their trust, and uphold professional confidentiality.

To safeguard the dignity of the nursing profession, treat members of one's own and other professions with respect and kindness, act impartially, and always place the patient's welfare first.

To implement the latest achievements of medical, social, and humanities sciences in professional practice, and to continuously improve and update professional knowledge, skills, and competencies. To fulfil the professional duties of a nurse conscientiously.

Following the ceremony, participants listened to the Nursing Anthem, performed by the international ensemble AWeSome Band. The performance symbolised the unity of the nursing community and served as a reminder of the values that have formed the foundation of the profession for generations.

Musical Setting of the Ceremony
The ceremony concluded with a performance by Marcin Kotarba – a Polish tenor and baritone, graduate of the Academy of Music in Kraków, who for many years was associated with the EuropaChorAkademie in Mainz.

The artist has participated in numerous festivals in Poland and abroad and has collaborated with many cultural institutions. He also pursues artistic work in the visual arts as a graphic artist and exhibition creator. His performance gave the ceremony a particularly festive and distinguished atmosphere.

The Beginning of a New Professional Journey
At the conclusion of the event, Prof. Marcin Lis once again addressed the graduates, congratulating them on completing their studies and wishing them courage, professional fulfilment, and perseverance in carrying out the mission of caring for others.

The ceremony concluded with commemorative photographs of the graduates, academic staff, and representatives of the University's authorities. There was also time for family photographs with relatives and loved ones who had supported the graduates throughout their studies and joined them in celebrating this exceptional occasion.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all graduates of the Nursing programme. We wish you every success in your professional careers, fulfilment in caring for your patients, continuous personal and professional development, and every happiness in your personal lives.
