Doctorate from WSB University recognized by the Polish Academy of Sciences

The doctoral dissertation of Dr. Agnieszka Brzegowy, a graduate of the Interdisciplinary Doctoral Studies carried out at WSB University, was distinguished in the prestigious competition of the Committee on Organization and Management Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences in the category of doctoral dissertations. 

The awarded thesis, titled “Competition as a Source of Effectiveness in Virtual Teams,” addresses current and significant issues related to the functioning of contemporary organizations, in which remote work and distributed teams are becoming everyday practice. The distinction granted to the dissertation was highlighted by all reviewers, including Prof. Dr. hab. Ewa Stańczyk-Hugiet, Dr. h.c., who pointed to the methodological rigor demonstrated in the work and, as a result, its high substantive quality. “The dissertation attempts to identify the impact of competition on the effectiveness of virtual teams in the context of creativity, the engagement of individual team members, and HRM practices supporting employees’ abilities and motivation, as well as the opportunities created by organizations,” emphasized Prof. Ewa Stańczyk-Hugiet. 

The awards and distinctions were presented during the ceremonial meeting of the Committee on Organization and Management Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, held on March 16, 2026.
