Dr Damian Strojny Visits University College London on a Study Visit

From 13 to 17 July 2026, Dr Damian Strojny, Assistant Professor at Collegium Medicum - the Faculty of Medicine of WSB University, represented the University during a study visit to University College London (UCL). The visit provided an opportunity to learn about good practices in the British higher education system and solutions supporting the quality of education, digital transformation and cooperation between universities and their social and economic environment.

The visit was carried out as part of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education project, “Strengthening the Substantive and Managerial Competencies of Staff of Representative Institutions of the Higher Education and Science Community.” The project is part of the European Funds for Social Development 2021–2027 programme and was co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus.

Modern Technologies and Quality of Education
The programme of the visit focused on solutions applied at University College London in the areas of quality assurance in education, digital transformation, the use of artificial intelligence and data-driven management. An important element of the meetings also concerned adapting educational provision to the changing needs of the labour market.

Particular attention was devoted to the responsible use of generative artificial intelligence in teaching and to developing the digital competencies of academic staff and students. The solutions discussed demonstrated how new technologies can support the educational process, improve its quality and foster the development of a modern academic environment.

The British Higher Education System
An important part of the visit consisted of meetings devoted to the British model of higher education regulation, including the work of the Office for Students (OfS). Participants also learned about solutions related to university-business cooperation, building relationships with the social and economic environment, and diversifying sources of funding.

- A modern university should not only impart knowledge, but also build a culture of quality, use new technologies responsibly, make data-driven decisions and remain in constant dialogue with its social and economic environment. The visit to University College London was an opportunity to learn about solutions that may serve as inspiration for the further development of WSB University - emphasises Dr Damian Strojny.

Inspiration for the Further Development of WSB University
Participation in the study visit made it possible to gain knowledge and experience that can be applied in the further improvement of WSB University’s educational, organisational and quality-assurance processes. The solutions explored also provide valuable inspiration for strengthening the international dimension of the University’s activities and developing cooperation with its external environment.
