From Alarms to Cyber Threats. WSB University Trains in Crisis Response

The Auditorium Maximum of WSB University in Dąbrowa Górnicza became a meeting place for the academic community with services and experts for whom security means procedures, responsibility, and rapid decision-making. The Security Day- “Safe Academy 2026” combined lectures and workshops focused on real threat scenarios – from evacuation and actions in crisis situations to challenges in the digital space.  

The event was opened by Prof. Marcin Lis, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Cooperation with the Environment, and Prof. Marek Walancik, Director of the Centre for Research and Education of Uniformed Services at WSB University.  
The guest of honour was Colonel Michał Polaszek, Commander of the AGAT Military Unit in Gliwice, who spoke about contemporary challenges in the area of security and operational readiness.  

At the same time, the event had a strongly practical dimension. During specialist workshops, participants learned about issues of tactical medicine and “battlefield medicine,” worked on examples from the field of cybersecurity and conscious use of the Internet, examined solutions supporting crisis management (using the Automated Crisis Management System “JAŚMIN”), discussed civil protection and civil defence, as well as boundaries, consent, and well-being in digital relationships. The programme also included simulation technologies, including a laser shooting range (VRT Technology).  

The workshops made it possible to translate theory into concrete actions: from the principles of first aid in conditions of increased risk, through the analysis of typical online threats and safe digital habits, to working with tools supporting coordination in crisis situations.  
The meeting concluded with the presentation of the “Educator for Security” statuette to Colonel Michał Polaszek, Commander of the AGAT Military Unit in Gliwice. The distinction was awarded by the Rector of WSB University, Prof. Zdzisława Dacko-Pikiewicz.
