On 23 February 2026, lecturers from WSB University were honored with prestigious distinctions during the 11th Scientific Conference titled “Rationalization of Processes for Ensuring the Safety of Participants at Religious Gatherings”, held in Wrocław, Poland.
At the event, the Warmian‑Masurian Association of Educators awarded the medal “Distinguished for the Development of Education” to two WSB University faculty members: Dr hab. Tomasz Safjański, Professor at WSB University, and Dr hab. Jarosław Struniawski, also a Professor at WSB University. In addition, Professor Dr hab. Bernard Wiśniewski received the “35th Anniversary Cross of the NSZZ Policjantów” by decision of the Board of the National Police Union (NSZZ Policjantów).
These recognitions were presented in acknowledgment of the scientific and expert contributions of the WSB University research team from Dąbrowa Górnicza. Since 2024, under the leadership of Professor Bernard Wiśniewski, the team has been conducting research on the modern dimensions of diversion, producing scientific meetings and publications that present partial outcomes of their work.
The 11th Scientific Conference, which convened experts from academic circles as well as representatives of uniformed services responsible for public order, safety, and fire protection, brought together participants from Poland, Ukraine, and Germany.
The conference was organized at the initiative of His Excellency Archbishop Józef Kupny, Metropolitan Archbishop of Wrocław, who also serves as Deputy Chair of the Polish Bishops’ Conference.
The event’s principal organizer was the Institute of Social Security of the “Social Observatory” Foundation. Co‑organizers included the Fire Service Academy in Warsaw, WSB University in Dąbrowa Górnicza, the Police Academy in Szczytno, the WSGE Academy of Applied Sciences in Józefów, and the Pontifical Faculty of Theology in Wrocław.
The conference operated under the patronage of the Metropolitan Archbishop of Wrocław, the Minister of Sport and Tourism, and the Chief Commander of the State Fire Service.
The central goal of the conference was to identify and discuss scientifically grounded methods for improving safety processes for participants in religious gatherings. Discussions across three thematic sessions addressed challenges and risks faced by worshippers, celebrants, and sacred sites, as well as strategies for enhancing protective systems.
