TNOiK was established on 20 April 1925 as the Institute of Scientific Organization at the Museum of Industry and Agriculture in Warsaw. It was one of the first professional organizations in the world bringing together managers. (Previously, there had been 15 scientific work organization circles operating within engineers’ associations—the predecessor of today’s Supreme Technical Organization (NOT). These circles merged into the Executive Committee of the Association for Scientific Organization, which convened the 1st Polish Congress of Scientific Organization on 6–8 December 1924, attended by 500 participants.)

Today, TNOiK is a non-political, non-profit association primarily dedicated to disseminating knowledge about professional management. It actively cooperates with numerous Polish organizations, including the Federation of Scientific and Technical Associations NOT, the Club 500, the National Chamber of Commerce, the Polish Economic Society, the Accountants Association in Poland, the Association of Polish Educators, and the Association of Polish Lawyers.

Pursuant to Resolution No. 10 of the Main Board of TNOiK of 18 March 2014, the Dąbrowa Górnicza Branch of TNOiK was established on 7 April 2014, with its headquarters at WSB University.

Currently, TNOiK branches operate, among others, in Częstochowa, Łódź, Warsaw, Kraków, Poznań, Szczecin, Toruń, Katowice, Olsztyn, Lublin, Kielce, and Gdańsk.
