Oskar Jurek, a first-year student of Management at the Faculty of Applied Sciences of WSB University in Dąbrowa Górnicza, became the winner of the nationwide Sigma Challenge 2026 competition. He won in the category “Economics, Economy and Finance”, confirming his knowledge, commitment, and excellent substantive preparation.
The Sigma Challenge 2026 competition, organised by XYZ - a new-category media outlet - and PWN Scientific Publishers, was held online on 6 May. Participants competed in seven thematic categories, including modern technologies, energy and industry, health and medicine, sport and sports marketing, art and pop culture, as well as the special Omnibus category.
The preparation of the competition questions was supervised by respected representatives of the academic community. The economics category was overseen by Prof. Elżbieta Mączyńska, a recognised expert in the field of economics and economy.
The official announcement of the results and the award ceremony took place at the Łazienki Królewskie. During the event, Oskar Jurek was accompanied by Prof. Marcin Lis, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Cooperation with the Environment at WSB University.
The ceremony was also attended by distinguished guests, including Dr Karolina Zioło-Pużuk, Minister of Science and Higher Education, and Prof. Michał Kleiber.
