For one day, Będzin became a space for meetings between young people, experts, concludes and enthusiasts of knowledge. The 22nd Science Festival of the WSB University attracted hundreds of students from across the region to Będzin Arena, all eager to see what science looks like in practice and what opportunities modern education can offer.
The substantive part of the event focused on topics directly related to the reality in which young people function. General Dr Roman Polko, former commander of the JW GROM unit, and Professor Paulina Polko, Head of the Department of Security Sciences at the WSB University, spoke about safety and responding to crisis situations, emphasizing the importance of competencies that enable effective action in a dynamically changing world. In turn, Professor Michał Zembala, a lecturer at the Collegium Medicum of the WSB University, introduced participants to the intricacies of decision-making in cardiac surgery, demonstrating what responsibility for human life looks like in medical practice.
The first part of this year’s Science Festival in Będzin, opened by Dominik Penar, Vice-Dean for Development at the WSB University, was attended by more than 2,000 people. Among them were Łukasz Komoniewski, Mayor of Będzin, Marek Węgrzynowicz, Deputy Mayor of Dąbrowa Górnicza, and Rafał Adamczyk, Member of the Board of the Silesian Voivodeship.
The festival was not only an opportunity to listen to inspiring speeches but also to engage directly with the WSB University. Participants had the chance to learn about the educational offer, talk with students and university representatives, and obtain information about fields of study and development paths. Practical workshops in battlefield medicine and first aid, as well as preventive skin examinations, attracted significant interest.
The day concluded with the Spring Concert featuring Robert M. Janowski. The evening event gathered another 2,000 attendees—students, graduates, and participants of the AWSB University of the Third Age—immersing them in a unique atmosphere.
Once again, the WSB University Science Festival in Będzin demonstrated that education can be inspiring, practical, and closely aligned with the real needs of young people.
It is an event that not only presents opportunities for studying but also encourages conscious choices regarding educational and professional paths.
