Technology, Practice and the Experience of the Future - Modern Medicine Open Days at WSB University

The Modern Medicine Open Days were held at WSB University – an educational event organized as part of the KPO Projects Week in Healthcare within the EDUMED project. Over the course of two days, participants had the opportunity to see what contemporary education in the field of medical sciences looks like and how modern technologies support diagnostics, prevention, treatment, and the education of future healthcare professionals.

The event was addressed to students, teachers, and all individuals interested in medicine, health, and modern solutions used in clinical practice. The facilities of the Collegium Medicum of WSB University were transformed into interactive demonstration and workshop zones, where participants could not only observe but also actively experience the world of modern medicine.

The programme included, among others, 3D anatomy demonstrations, presentations of anatomical models, first aid workshops, simulations of medical procedures, ultrasound diagnostics, microbiology, genetics, skin examinations using Hi-Tech technologies, as well as a VR zone featuring an ageing simulator that allowed participants to see the world from a senior citizen’s perspective. The obstetrics zone also attracted considerable interest, where a high-fidelity childbirth simulator was presented along with demonstrations of the course of labour and possible complications.

Participants were also able to visit a medical rescue ambulance, learn the principles of providing first aid, check what should be included in a first aid kit, and take part in educational activities related to health prevention, laboratory diagnostics, and medical skills training. Anatomical quizzes, educational games, as well as promotional and information zones were also prepared.

The Modern Medicine Open Days provided an opportunity to showcase the advanced educational facilities of the Collegium Medicum of WSB University. It is in these modern classrooms, laboratories, and the Multidisciplinary Medical Simulation Centre that students of medical programmes acquire practical competencies, learn to work with professional equipment, make decisions in clinical situations, and operate in conditions closely resembling real professional practice.

Modern technologies, medical simulators, 3D applications, VR solutions, and specialist equipment enable students to develop their skills in a safe and controlled environment. As a result, education at the Collegium Medicum of WSB University combines solid theoretical foundations with practical experience that prepares students for the challenges of the contemporary labour market and the rapidly evolving healthcare system.

We would like to thank all participants, schools, teachers, students, and everyone involved in organizing the event. The Modern Medicine Open Days demonstrated that medical education today is not only about knowledge from textbooks, but above all about experience, practice, and contact with technology that is genuinely transforming modern medicine.

Individuals interested in studying in the field of medical sciences are encouraged to explore the educational offer of the Collegium Medicum of WSB University.
