The voice of AWSB experts was heard at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education during a discussion on safety in higher education institutions

“Safety in entities of the higher education and science system” – under this title, the 6th scientific and practical symposium from the series Ministerial Forum of Academic Debate was organized at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

“The debate on safety at universities is a debate that requires inviting a great many communities: scientists, the Police, University Security. It is a discussion about a systemic approach to safety. We have various presentations, presentations by representatives of the humanities who speak about information resilience, as well as presentations concerning aspects of our physical safety. What encouraged me to organize this debate? A meeting with Prof. Marek Walancik, who delivered his lecture at the Committee of Pedagogical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and it is from this inspiration that we are here today. There is a full day of lectures on safety, also available online; I believe that everyone interested in safety will find something of interest for themselves.” – said dr Karolina Zioło-Puźuk, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education, in a conversation with AWSB representatives.

The initiator of this unique, nationwide meeting, attended among others by representatives of the academic community, uniformed services, the judiciary, and the clergy, was Prof. Marek Walancik, Director of the Center for Research and Education of Uniformed Services at WSB University. As Prof. Walancik emphasized: “The guarantee of safety is education. This is what universities do, especially if they offer a programme in Security, or subjects related to safety dispersed across various programmes. The university should also teach practical action, show how a student, how a citizen should cope in crisis situations. Every university should organize a safety day; research conducted by scientists in this field is also important, and the publication and dissemination of these studies may also be of fundamental importance for safety.”

WSB University was represented at the symposium organized in Warsaw by: Prof. Marek Walancik, Prof. Mirosława Nowak-Dziemianowicz, dr Grzegorz Matuszek, dr Paweł Buchwald, sub-inspector Piotr Peterek, Lieutenant (reserve) Robert Kora, Łukasz Miąsik, and Wojciech Misiak.
