The Young, the Uniform, and the Future - an Intergenerational Discussion on Security

This is the only project of its kind in Poland. In the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, the Young Uniformed Services Staff operates. Krzysztof Jan Klęczar, the Voivode of Lesser Poland, initiated the effort, and WSB University joined the initiative. In Tarnów, the conference “Young People, the Uniform, and the Future” was organized, during which a year of activity of the Young Uniformed Services Staff was summarized. Its members received awards and distinctions from the hands of the Voivode of Lesser Poland and Dr. Zbigniew Kopa from WSB University.

The conference, organized in cooperation with WSB University, became an opportunity for discussion about the future of uniformed professions. “The fundamental mission of higher education institutions such as WSB University is to educate. At a time when the word ‘security’ is being declined in all cases, education for security is crucial. For WSB University, the opportunity to educate the ‘Young Uniformed Services’ is a real chance to take care of the future of security,” emphasized Zdzisława Dacko-Pikiewicz, Rector of WSB University.

During the conference, a series of lectures by WSB University scholars was organized. Dr. Dawid Lis spoke about the passion that should accompany service in uniform. Dr. Aleksandra Zamojska addressed the question - who will wear the uniform of tomorrow - while Dr. Gabriela Grochola-Karaśkiewicz explained how the activities of uniformed services translate into the effectiveness of the justice system.

Two panel discussions were also organized during the conference. The first featured members of the Young Uniformed Services Staff, while in the next panel knowledge and experience were shared by, among others, commanders of the Polish Army, the State Fire Service, and representatives of the Education Superintendent’s Office. The discussions focused on the most significant problems faced by uniformed services, the impact of technology and artificial intelligence on the future of service, and systemic changes that could significantly improve Poland’s security.
