WSB University Opens Its Doors Even Wider to International Research

WSB University has been approved by the Minister of the Interior and Administration as a research institution authorised to admit foreign nationals for the purpose of conducting scientific research or development work.

A particularly important area of WSB University’s activity is its participation in European research networks and consortia. The University serves as the leader of the Q-Helix European Universities Alliance, bringing together universities from 10 European countries. The Alliance’s research activities focus, among other areas, on security, health, the environment and the development of smart cities.

This is an important confirmation of WSB University’s position as a mature, stable and active research institution that has for years been developing research cooperation with partners not only from Europe, but from around the world. The new authorisation opens up further opportunities for WSB University to host international scientists, experts and researchers and to carry out joint research initiatives in Poland.

International cooperation is one of the foundations of WSB University’s research activities. The University conducts research within international project teams, research groups and scientific networks, participating, among others, in projects funded under Horizon Europe, COST, Erasmus+, Interreg, the International Visegrad Fund and the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange.

WSB University is also a partner in the SHORE project implemented under Horizon Europe – one of Europe’s most important funding instruments for research and innovation. The project brings together the scientific potential of partners from different countries and encompasses research and educational activities carried out across numerous regions of Europe.

The scope of research conducted at WSB University addresses the most important challenges facing the contemporary world. It includes, among other areas, innovation, digitalisation and the use of new technologies, the development of smart cities, economic transformation and sustainable development. Security and societal resilience also remain important areas of research, alongside studies on education, health and quality of life.

Projects concerning inclusive education and assistive technologies for people with special needs, migration and access to higher education, the well-being of children and young people, the prevention of violence, and cultural diversity constitute an important part of the University’s research activities.

As part of international COST Actions, WSB University researchers participate, among others, in projects concerning assistive technologies for people on the autism spectrum and people with intellectual disabilities, the history of identity documents and migration, the quality of education in palliative care, as well as the relationships between identity, peer violence and students’ well-being. These are examples of research in which a scientific perspective is combined with the search for practical responses to real social problems.

It is precisely this combination of high scientific standards, international cooperation and the practical dimension of research that is one of the distinguishing features of WSB University’s activities. The results of the work carried out include not only scientific publications, but also tools, recommendations, reports and solutions that can be applied in education, the economy, social policy and institutional practice.

The quality and international character of these activities are also demonstrated by the cooperation of WSB University researchers with scholars representing leading academic institutions from around the world, including the University of Oxford, University of California San Diego, Rice University, University of Lausanne, University of Auckland, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Tohoku University and Rochester Institute of Technology. This cooperation has included conducting research, seminars and expert consultations, preparing publications and developing further research projects.

The new authorisation granted by the Ministry of the Interior and Administration is a natural next stage in the development of these activities. WSB University has experience in hosting international researchers as well as the facilities necessary to conduct international research - laboratories and research infrastructure, access to scientific resources, conference and teaching facilities, and specialised teams supporting international cooperation and project implementation.

The five-year approval granted by the Ministry of the Interior and Administration strengthens WSB University’s capacity to build an international research environment and carry out further ambitious research projects. It is another step towards strengthening the University’s position in the European and global research landscape - a space where knowledge, experience and diverse perspectives come together to jointly address the challenges of the future.
