WSBU & Katowice Detention: Internship & Research Pact

WSB University and Katowice Detention Center Sign Agreement – New Opportunities for Internships and Research on Rehabilitation

WSB University and the Katowice Detention Center have established a partnership that opens new opportunities for students and researchers. Thanks to the signed agreement, students specializing in pedagogy (with a focus on rehabilitation), psychology, and national security will be able to complete internships at the Katowice detention facility. This provides invaluable professional experience, development of social competencies, and a deeper understanding of the penitentiary system.

The cooperation also includes joint research projects focusing on the effectiveness of rehabilitation methods and the reintegration process of incarcerated individuals. Combining academic knowledge with penitentiary practice will allow for innovative solutions in rehabilitation and social readaptation.

The agreement was signed on May 7, 2024. WSB University was represented by Prof. Marek Walancik, Head of the Pedagogy Department and Director of the Center for Research and Education of Uniformed Services. The Detention Center was represented by its director, Captain Paweł Pisula. Also present at the event were Major Bartosz Rozwadowski, Head of the Penitentiary Department, Lieutenant Paweł Czajka, Press Spokesperson for the Director of the Detention Center, and Dr. Edyta Antoniak-Kiedos, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences at WSB Academy.
