Waste Segregation and Recycling Initiatives at WSB University

WSB University is proud to partner with a local recycling company to implement an improved campus-wide recycling and waste segregation system, marking another significant step toward our sustainability goals.

The newly introduced system provides the university community with an efficient, user-friendly, and environmentally responsible approach to waste disposal. Clearly labeled bins—such as those for plastic (PLASTIK), paper (PAPIER), glass (SZKŁO), and general waste (ODPADY KOMUNALNE)—are strategically placed throughout campus facilities. This visible and accessible setup encourages students, faculty, and staff to separate waste correctly, reinforcing environmentally conscious habits and reducing landfill waste.

In addition to traditional recycling, the initiative incorporates the Single Stream Recycling system, which simplifies the collection of multiple recyclable materials—such as plastic, paper, glass, and aluminum—into one streamlined process. This innovation increases participation rates and overall recycling efficiency.

WSB University also places strong emphasis on the safe management of electronic waste (e-waste). Due to its content of toxic chemicals and heavy metals, e-waste must never be placed in standard recycling or waste bins. The University is actively developing dedicated e-waste collection points and awareness campaigns to promote safe and responsible disposal practices.

This initiative directly contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

Enhancing urban sustainability through waste reduction

     Encouraging recycling and material recovery

Reducing carbon emissions linked to waste treatment and landfill use.

Through this partnership and improved waste infrastructure, WSB University continues to strengthen its leadership in sustainable campus management, empowering its academic community to take part in building a cleaner, greener, and more responsible future.
