Innovation in Construction and Heritage Restoration
From March 24th to 26th, 2026, representatives from our University participated in an intensive international study visit to Chișinău, Moldova. The event was hosted by the Instituția Publică Centrul de Excelență în Construcții (IP CEC) as part of the REBUILD Project, funded by the European Union.
Objectives and Knowledge Exchange
As the partner institution responsible for the project’s communication and dissemination, we focused on documenting best practices in sustainable reconstruction and the modernization of Vocational Education and Training (VET) in the construction sector. The visit provided a unique platform to bridge the gap between academic education and industrial needs, aligning with the EU Green Deal and Digital Decade objectives.
Our University was represented by Lubomira Trojan, who led the substantive and strategic discussions during the coordination phases, and Małgorzata Kasjaniuk, who managed the project’s communication strategy and documentation.
Key Highlights of the Program:
- Heritage & Revitalization: We conducted technical site visits to landmark architectural monuments, including the 17th-century wooden church in Vorniceni, the medieval Soroca Fortress, and the restored Manuc Bei Manor. Restoration experts shared detailed insights into the technical challenges of preserving historic structures using sustainable methods.
- Rural Revitalization: The team explored the "Hobbiton Moldovenesc" in Rogojeni village – a unique example of revitalized historic shelters – and the Steam Mill in Mereșeni, a national architectural monument.
- Educational Excellence: Participants toured the modern facilities of IP CEC and visited ongoing revitalization works at the State Pedagogical University "I. Creangă" in Chișinău.

The visit also hosted the 7th Coordination Meeting, where partners from six countries gathered to strategically align the next phases of the REBUILD initiative.
