Workshop 'Protecting places of worship pre, during and after a terrorist attack'

On 26-27 November 2022 in Hague, a workshop 'Protecting places of worship pre, during and after a terrorist attack' was held. The workshop, which was attended by a representative of the European Commission, the Secretary General of The Commission of the Episcopates of the European Union, as well as representatives of the Catholic, Greek Catholic, Lutheran churches, Jewish communities and Muslim communities from a number of European countries, was organised within the framework of the project 'Prosperes - Protection System for large gatherings of People in Religious Sites'. Experts from the consortium, together with representatives of religious communities, carried out practical exercises on implementing solutions to improve security against terrorist attacks and crime.

The workshop was also an opportunity to present the project's products and solutions dedicated to religious communities as part of the 'Preparing the tailor-made security measures for religious sites' package. Prof Adrian Siadkowski, who leads the research in the project on behalf of WSB University, presented the results of his team's work. A monograph "Security by Design Guidebook for Religious Sites" published by WSB University Publishing House, written by Prof. Adrian Siadkowski, Ph.D., Łukasz Szymankiewicz, Ph.D., Karol Kujawa, Ph.D., and M.Sc. arch. Szymon Bańka contains, among other things, an original concept of implementing security elements for planned and existing infrastructure, good practices observed during numerous study visits carried out in many places of religious worship in Europe, as well as a practical example of shaping public space to strengthen security.

We encourage you to take a look at the video and the e-book 'Security by Design for Reliogious Sites'.
