Social pedagogy as a science has been applied since the dawn of time. It focused on crucial social issues, these issues diagnosis and attempts of delivering intellectual and empirical solutions. The changing world is bringing us new problems constantly. The social pedagogy object of study is connected with the living environment. Its modern re-definitions and designations present the vitality and the creative potential of both: social pedagogy and people who develop it. These definitions also prove the fact that social pedagogy is a very important analytical category of theory and empiricism. Hence, the 20th, jubilee meeting referring to the idea of the living environment and its role in creating a neighborhood is being organized. The Pedagogy Department at theUniversity ofDąbrowa Górnicza arranges the conference for the second time.

The conference scope is not random. This scientific event is a continuation of the 20-year tradition of exchanging social pedagogy theories and views among representatives of academic centers fromCentral Europe. Within the period of the last 20 years, the Socialia conference creators - scientists and practitioners from neighboring countries have been searching for the vital forces of social pedagogy in order to cope with social problems such as: various visions of mutual coexistence and cooperation, social capital construction, new social risks and threats, aging societies, perspectives and dilemmas of functioning in a digital world.

The aim of the conference is also the exchange of experiences, participation areas diagnosis, social intervention and community building. Neighborhood is both an inspiration and a value. Borderland cultures were creative, what is manifested by numerous examples in the history of Europe.

Problems discussed during the plenary session will be more specifically debated within discussion panels. Considerations and reflections will be held on the bases of submitted papers in the framework of: call for papers to 30 July 2016. Papers should be submitted on the conference address. Panel discussion topics will provide various aspects of social participation and neighborly coexistence.

Conference languages: Polish, Czech, Slovakian and English. During plenary lectures deliveries, the conference participants will have the opportunity to take advantage of simultaneous translations: from Polish into Slovakian and from Polish into English.
