Książka „Psychosomatic disorders as an interdisciplinary challenge for medical practice. An international perspective” przedstawia współczesne podejście do zaburzeń psychosomatycznych z perspektywy medycyny, psychologii i nauk o zdrowiu. Publikacja łączy aktualne modele diagnostyczne (DSM-5, ICD-11), wiedzę kliniczną oraz praktyczne rekomendacje dotyczące diagnozy, komunikacji i leczenia pacjentów z uporczywymi objawami somatycznymi. W książce omówiono również psychosomatykę w kontekście europejskich systemów ochrony zdrowia oraz przyszłych kierunków rozwoju, takich jak telemedycyna i sztuczna inteligencja.

The book “Psychosomatic disorders as an interdisciplinary challenge for medical practice. An international perspective” presents a contemporary approach to psychosomatic disorders from the perspectives of medicine, psychology, and health sciences. The publication combines current diagnostic frameworks (DSM-5, ICD-11), clinical knowledge, and practical recommendations regarding diagnosis, communication, and treatment of patients with persistent somatic symptoms. The book also discusses psychosomatic challenges within European healthcare systems and future directions of development, including telemedicine and artificial intelligence.

Monika Bąk-Sosnowska

Professor, is a clinical psychologist, psychotherapist, and academic lecturer in the Department of Psychiatry and Clinical and Environmental Psychology at the Faculty of Medicine, WSB University. She is Head of the Center for Psychosomatics and Preventive Healthcare. Her work focuses on psychosomatic medicine, clinical and health psychology, and medical communication, with a particular emphasis on integrating psychological and somatic perspectives in clinical practice. Alongside her academic activity, she provides clinical care for individuals in crisis and for patients with psychosomatic disorders, eating disorders, and obesity. She is also actively engaged in disseminating psychological knowledge through media, educational initiatives, and public health programs that promote healthy lifestyles.

Diana Paula Simionescu

PhD, is a psychologist and scientist-practitioner whose work spans clinical psychology, cognitive-behavioral therapy, research methodology, and the analysis of complex behavioral and linguistic data. She is an Assistant Lecturer at the Faculty of Psychology, Titu Maiorescu University, Bucharest, a licensed cognitive-behavioral psychotherapist, and a Scientific Researcher III at the Institute of Educational Sciences, Romania, where she contributes to nationally relevant studies and coordinates the Romanian team in an international research project focused on reversing educational inequalities. Her research addresses mental health, psychosocial functioning, and language-based approaches to psychological and educational assessment.

Elena Gurková

Elena Gurková

Professor, is an academic researcher in health care sciences, a certified cognitive-behavioral psychotherapist, and a senior academic at the Faculty of Health Care, University of Prešov (Slovakia). Her work is situated within an international context, with ongoing collaboration and research activity across Central Europe, particularly in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Poland, as well as involvement in international research projects and multicenter studies. Her research has an interdisciplinary character, integrating nursing science with psychology, public health, and clinical medicine. It focuses on patient-reported outcomes and experiences (PROs and PREs), especially health-related quality of life, patient dignity, and subjective experiences of illness and care, particularly in the context of complex and psychosomatic health conditions. She has contributed to the development and validation of measurement instruments and to research examining patient safety culture and its relationship to patient outcomes. Her scholarly work is documented through publications in international peer-reviewed journals, and she has been involved in national and international grant-funded research projects. She also contributes to the scientific community through editorial and peer-review activities and by participating in international conferences, supporting the advancement of evidence-based, interdisciplinary healthcare.
