W dniach 8-12 września 2025 dr hab. Paulina Polko, prof. AWSB, kierowniczka katedry nauk o bezpieczeństwie przebywała w ramach programu Erazmus plus w North-West University w Republice Południowej Afryki. W ramach realizowanej współpracy dydaktyczno-naukowej prof. Polko wygłosiła wykład Migration policies in Europe in the era of the global migration crisis, a następnie odbyła dyskusje na temat sposobów konstruowania strategii i polityk

przyjmującej, przebieg pobytu, zdobyte doświadczenia i umiejętności): migracyjnych w Europie ze studentami kierunku administracja publiczna na Wydziale Humanistycznym NWU. Jednocześnie prof. Polko została poproszona o dołączenie do zespołu badawczego działającego w ramach School of Government studies w programie: Social Transformation, który jest częścią szerokiego projektu dotyczącego pogłębiania demokracji w Afryce Południowej. Jako prof. nadzwyczajny NWU prof. Polko będzie prowadziła badania oraz realizowała dydaktykę we wskazanym obszarze, w tym m.in. będzie promotorem dysertacji doktorskich i prac magisterskich oraz wykładowcą na studiach magisterskich. NWU jest wiodącym uniwersytetem w RPA, niezwykle aktywnym w obszarze naukowej współpracy międzynarodowej i wymiany studentów.

Between 8–12 September 2025, Dr. hab. Paulina Polko, Professor at WSB University and Head of the Department of Security Studies, participated in a mobility program under Erasmus+ at North-West University (NWU) in the Republic of South Africa.

As part of the academic and scientific cooperation, Professor Polko delivered a lecture titled Migration Policies in Europe in the Era of the Global Migration Crisis, followed by discussions with Public Administration students from the Faculty of Humanities at NWU on the development of migration strategies and policies in Europe.

During her visit, Professor Polko was also invited to join a research team within the School of Government Studies, working on the Social Transformation program – a part of a broader project dedicated to strengthening democracy in South Africa.

As an Extraordinary Professor at NWU, Professor Polko will conduct research and teaching activities in this field, including supervising doctoral dissertations and master’s theses, as well as lecturing in master’s programs.

NWU is one of South Africa’s leading universities, highly active in international academic cooperation and student exchange initiatives.

Jako że był to mój pierwszy wyjazd na Staff Week, nie mam możliwości odniesienia się do innych wydarzeń. Niemniej jednak był to bardzo intensywny i ciekawy tydzień spędzony na terenie University of Applied Sciences Baltazar Zaprešić, poświęcony tematyce zrównoważonego rozwoju i edukacji. Głównymi założeniami tego tygodniowego wydarzenia było pozyskanie i/lub poszerzenie wiedzy na temat wdrażania zasad zrównoważonego rozwoju w szkolnictwie wyższym oraz wymiana dobrych praktyk między uczestnikami z różnych krajów europejskich. Ze swojej strony mogę potwierdzić, iż:

• pozyskałam wiele informacji na temat zrównoważonej edukacji w kontekście akademickim oraz poszerzyłam swoją wiedzę w zakresie zrównoważonego działania i metod stosowanych w środowisku pracy, które – wraz z rozwojem mojej kariery w AWSB – będę mogła sukcesywnie wprowadzać, tym samym wpływając na pozycję i wizerunek Uczelni,
• nawiązałam nowe, wartościowe znajomości akademickie z osobami z różnych krajów, m.in. Portugalii, Bułgarii, Hiszpanii oraz – oczywiście – Chorwacji i Polski,
• uczestniczyłam w zaplanowanych w programie wykładach, warsztatach, zajęciach grupowych, a także w międzynarodowej konferencji (ReECON) organizowanej m.in. przez University of Applied Sciences Baltazar Zaprešić,
• poszerzyłam swoją wiedzę dotyczącą krajów bałkańskich – zarówno w teorii, jak i w praktyce – dzięki wydarzeniom przygotowanym przez organizatorów, takim jak warsztaty kulinarne czy wycieczka po Dalmacji.

Podsumowując, udział w tego typu wydarzeniu, którego początkowo nieco się obawiałam, finalnie pozwolił mi rozwinąć kompetencje międzykulturowe, zdobyć nową i poszerzyć obecną wiedzę w zakresie zrównoważonej edukacji, a także zainspirował mnie do wdrażania podobnych działań w naszej instytucji. Staff Week organizowany przez University of Applied Sciences Baltazar Zaprešić stanowił cenne doświadczenie zawodowe i osobiste, które z pewnością przełoży się na jakość mojej dalszej pracy w AWSB. Nie ukrywam, że tego typu forma przyswajania wiedzy jest dla mnie bardzo komfortowa i znacznie bardziej wartościowa niż klasyczne szkolenia online czy offline. Z przyjemnością uczestniczyłabym w podobnych wyjazdach pracowniczych w przyszłości, jeśli tylko byłoby to możliwe.

As this was my first participation in a Staff Week, I have no basis for comparison with other events. Nevertheless, it was a very intensive and interesting week spent at the University of Applied Sciences Baltazar Zaprešić, dedicated to the topic of sustainable development and education. The main objectives of this week-long event were to gain and/or expand knowledge on implementing the principles of sustainable development in higher education, as well as to exchange good practices among participants from various European countries.

From my perspective, I can confirm that:

• I gained a lot of information about sustainable education in the academic context and expanded my knowledge of sustainable practices and methods used in the workplace, which – along with the development of my career at WSB University – I will be able to gradually introduce, thereby contributing to the position and image of our University,
• I established new, valuable academic connections with participants from different countries, including Portugal, Bulgaria, Spain, as well as, of course, Croatia and Poland,
• I took part in the scheduled lectures, workshops, group activities, and also in the international conference (ReECON) organized, among others, by the University of Applied Sciences Baltazar Zaprešić,

I broadened my knowledge of the Balkan countries – both in theory and in practice – thanks to the activities prepared by the organizers, such as culinary workshops and a trip around Dalmatia.
To sum up, participating in this kind of event, which I initially approached with some uncertainty, ultimately allowed me to develop intercultural competences, gain new and deepen existing knowledge in the field of sustainable education, and inspired me to implement similar initiatives at our institution. The Staff Week organized by the University of Applied Sciences Baltazar Zaprešić was a valuable professional and personal experience that will undoubtedly translate into the quality of my future work at WSB University. I must admit that this form of learning is very comfortable for me and far more valuable than traditional online or offline training. I would gladly take part in similar staff mobility events in the future, should the opportunity arise.

I recently had the pleasure of participating in the 13th Erasmus Staff Week at the University of Cyprus, and it was an unforgettable experience filled with learning, networking, and cultural exploration. I was truly inspired by the insightful session led by Kwanza Musi Dos Santos. Her approach to diversity management offered fresh perspectives and actionable strategies that I look forward to applying in my own work. Beyond the workshops, I had the chance to dive into Cypriot culture, experiencing firsthand the richness of its diversity. But what made this event even more meaningful was the opportunity to connect with so many wonderful International Relations Office (IRO) representatives from across Europe.

It was great pleasure, to have this opportunity with Erasmus support to visit beautiful Azerbaijan and especially Azerbaijan State University of Economics, UNEC. Thanks to support of International Cooperation Department I was able to share my perspective and knowledge about logistics during lectures for local students and in the same time I also gained experience during very nice and fruitful discussion. By occasion I was also able to take part in the  VI International Scientific Conference of Economics and Management Researchers (ISCEMR-2024). Excellent organisation and, in addition, the opportunity to visit the Heydar Aliyev Center. UNEC and Azerbaijan - you are doing it right! Keep it up! I strongly recommend participating in Erasmus programmes and this was definitely not my last visit to Azerbaijan nor my last Erasmus trip.... Stay tuned for more!

Dzięki mobilności Erasmus+ efektywnie współpracujemy z uczelniami partnerskimi w Algierii. Osobiście miałem okazję wizytować Mila University, gdzie nawiązałem wspaniałe kontakty i poznałem przyjaciół w którymi w przyszłości mam nadzieję będziemy realizować różne ciekawe projekty.

Dr Karol Kujawa odwiedził w lipcu University of Constantine 2 w Algierii w ramach mobilności w celu szkoleniowym programu Erasmus współpraca z krajami partnerskimi KA107. Podczas wizyty, dr Kujawa odbył spotkania z pracownikami Wydziałów Zarządzania i Informatyki. Rozmawiano o kontynuacji współpracy w ramach wymiany kadry i studentów, wspólnych publikacji oraz projektów naukowo-badawczych, m.in. w ramach akcji Capacity Building in Higher Education programu Erasmus+.

Dzięki tej mobilności udało się rozpocząć prace nad wspólnym programem studiów na kierunku Zarządzanie.

Współpraca z University of Constantine 2 nabiera rozpędu i już w nowym roku akademickim Akademia WSB będzie gościć pracowników tej uczelni oraz studentów w ramach projektu Erasmus+ KA107.

Prof. dr hab. Ryszard Szynowski, Kierownik Seminarium Doktorskiego w Dyscyplinie Nauk o Bezpieczeństwie zrealizował mobilność w celu szkoleniowym w uczelni Armed Forces Academy of General Milan Rastislav Štefánik w Litowskim Mikulaszu. Podczas wizyty Profesor odbył spotklania z pracownikami Katedry Bezpieczeństwa oraz Działu Współpracy z Zagranicą, gdzie rozmwiano o współpracy naukowej i badawczej oraz współnych publikacjach m.in. w uczelnianym czasopiśmie naukowym Akademii WSB - Security Forum.

Mobility to: Rey Juan Carlos University, Madrid, Spain

This mobility experience significantly enhanced our professional competencies, particularly in the areas of neuromarketing, marketing research intercultural academic communication, international project management, and integration of digital tools in research and teaching. The stay contributed to the development of new joint publication ideas and opened prospects for future cooperation within EU-funded initiatives.

Kurs „Stress management through Mindfulness, Yoga, and Meditation” został zorganizowany w ramach programu Erasmus Plus Mobility, przez instytucję szkoleniową Learning Together, w Porto, w terminie 22-27.06.2025r. Wzięło w nim udział dziewięciu nauczycieli z Włoch, Finlandii, Węgier i Polski. Kurs miał dwa cele - pierwszym, była analiza sytuacji stresowych w sytuacjach zawodowych, związanych przede wszystkim z relacją nauczyciel-uczeń/student i określenie tych obszarów, które wymagają poprawy oraz bardziej skutecznej komunikacji. Drugim celem kursu było nabycie praktycznych umiejętności z obszaru body-mind, przydatnych do radzenia sobie ze stresem i wzmacniania własnych kompetencji, w tym zawodowych. Kurs realizowany był poprzez metody aktywne, takie jak: instruktaż, ćwiczenia, dyskusje w małych i dużych grupach oraz wiele ćwiczeń praktycznych. Oprócz zajęć zorganizowanych, był okazją do wymiany doświadczeń związanych z pracą nauczyciela w różnych systemach edukacyjnych oraz poszukiwania różnic i podobieństw w zakresie wyzwań, z jakimi współcześnie mierzą się nauczyciele. Osobiste oraz zawodowe korzyści

z udziału w kursie, to m.in. większa świadomość bodźców wyzwalających reakcje stresowe w miejscu pracy, większa umiejętność zarządzania emocjami poprzez stosowanie konkretnych technik (joga, uważność, medytacja), lepsza umiejętność samoopieki i tworzenia skutecznych strategii w sytuacjach trudnych, większa świadomość specyfiki obszaru edukacyjnego w różnych krajach europejskich, ćwiczenie umiejętności językowych (j. angielski) w trakcie całego kursu.

Był to mój już drugi wyjazd z programu Erasmus, ale pierwszy, jako stażysta w Stambule. Poznałam cudowne osoby, z którymi kontakt będę miała również po wyjeździe. Podszkoliłam język angielski, ze względu na pracę w biurze Erasmusa. Na stażu nauczyłam się bardzo dużo, zobaczyłam cały proces rekrutacji osób na Erasmusa, prowadziłam rozmowy z osobami z różnych krajów, dzięki czemu stałam się bardziej pewna siebie. Po godzinach pracy i w weekendy zwiedzałam Stambuł, odwiedziłam najważniejsze zabytki, muzea i pływałam bardzo często statkiem, czego niestety w moim mieście nie mam. Dodatkowo pojechałam na wyspy, które otaczają Stambuł oraz odwiedziłam Bursę. Wypiłam litry tureckiej herbaty i zajadałam się tureckimi słodyczami oraz baklawą. Był to niezapomniany czas i bardzo się cieszę, że zdecydowałam się na niego pojechać.

Jedna z najlepszych przygód życia. Porto już na zawsze będzie moim drugim domem. Podróże, wspaniały czas i cudowni ludzie- to właśnie jest Erasmus+!

Czas spędzony w Huelvie jako Erasmus student był najlepszym czasem w moim życiu! Z racji, że jest to małe miasteczko, prawie nikt nie mówi po angielsku, co zmusiło mnie do nauki języka i oczywiście kultury. Mogłam celebrować święta i tradycje charakterystyczne dla tego regionu Hiszpanii.

Participating in the Erasmus program in Santarém, Portugal, through WSB University has been an amazing experience. I’ve come to love Portugal, especially the beautiful beaches and the warm, welcoming people. The weather is much warmer than I’m used to, which adds to the enjoyment of exploring the country. Whether it’s visiting coastal towns or interacting with locals, every day brings something new and exciting. I’m incredibly thankful to my university for giving me this opportunity, as it has allowed me to not only grow academically but also immerse myself in a vibrant culture that I’ve come to appreciate deeply.

My Erasmus Internship has been an incredible opportunity to align my academic and career goals with hands-on experience in cloud computing. Working in the heart of Madrid, with my office located right at Plaza del Sol, has made every day feel like a blend of professional growth and cultural discovery. The Spanish work-life balance is phenomenal—whether it's enjoying football events or Oktoberfest celebrations, or simply being surrounded by my friendly and supportive coworkers, I always feel at ease. This sense of balance has allowed me to excel in the role for which WSB has prepared me, as a software engineer, while also appreciating the personal connections I’ve made.
To any student unsure about applying for an Erasmus Internship, I say: go for it! Even a 3-month stint can open up a world of new experiences, and you’ll likely find yourself wanting to stay longer. Living in Madrid has been a highlight; every morning, I take a small detour on my way to work just to explore the beautiful streets around Plaza del Sol. With its rich history, vibrant atmosphere, and endless sunshine, Madrid offers something new to discover every day, making the experience truly unforgettable.

During my time at the HVL (abbreviated name) university in Bergen, I felt well taken care of in terms of receiving support from the teachers and having accessible administrative assistance. The university is a contemporary institution with a spacious and functional library that remains open seven days a week. It also boasts outdoor spaces, sports halls, cafes, and even a main hall that doubles as a concert venue. There are plenty of study rooms available for booking, whether for individual studies or group meet-ups.

Wyjazd do Bifröstu w Islandii finansowany dzięki programowi "Edukacja" był jedną z najciekawszych przygód mojego życia. Uniwersytet Bifröst oferuje ciekawy kontrast dla systemów nauczania do których jesteśmy przyzwyczajeni. Bifröst znajduje się z dala od miejskiego zgiełku, otoczony jest niesamowitymi widokami wzgórz, wulkanów i wodospadów, a niebo długich zimowych nocy często rozświetlone jest zorzami polarnymi. Islandczycy są wyluzowani, otwarci i przyjaźni, a Islandzkie hot dogi są faktycznie najlepsze na świecie.

Niezapomniana okazja do spędzenia lata w najlepszym możliwym miejscu!

I am really thankful to WSB university and academic staff especially to Pani Valeria who always support and accompany before and during our Erasmus stay in Belgium. Our internship in Belgium was an amazing experience. We met many wonderful people and relations with many of them have transformed into friendship. I suggest to everyone take a chance and go abroad with the WSB Erasmus programme – you will get valuable experience!

I would like to share with you these quotes. “Not all classrooms have four walls.” – Unknown and “Study abroad is the single most effective way of changing the way we view the world.” – Chantal Mitchell. Last semester I had a chance to do Erasmus plus exchange at BTU University in Germany, and with my Student ID (Ticket) from my BTU University I had free transportation ( Bus, Tram, Train) for a semester in Brandenburg state and famous places such as Berlin, Dresden. Of course there are ups and downs but when you complete such an exchange program you will be a different person with bagges of contacts of new people, memories of trips and cultural experiences from different countries.

Thank you very much to WSB University for such an amazing opportunity. 

Norway is a best country to get great experiences from Erasmus+ trips, I really enjoyed my whole stay and study.

It is an incredible experience that I have got while I am having my Erasmus Internship in KodEdu. I have learned and improve my skills while observing professional life in there. In my current internship I was improving myself on technical skills as learning C#, .Net, Data Structures and Algorithms etc. Apart from the technical part it was valuable to have that experience in the last year of my studies. I encourage everyone to have this adventure in their study time. Once Erasmus always Erasmus!

I am absolutely delighted with my Erasmus in the city of Vigo in Spain. Wonderful nature with beautiful landscapes, warm Spanish weather, kind and open people - this is what awaits students in Vigo. I am very grateful to the International relations office of WSB Academy, all employees and mentors for their help and the opportunity to see other parts of our planet, meet friends from all over the world, get to know other cultures and get such a wonderful and important life experience. I sincerely recommend all students to participate in the Erasmus+ exchange program, because it is truly an unforgettable adventure that you will remember for the rest of your life!:)
