The strength of WSB Business School lies in its exceptional faculty and vibrant research culture. Our faculty team comprises accomplished scholars, educators, and industry experts who bring both academic rigor and practical insight into the classroom. Many hold doctoral degrees from leading universities, and a growing number possess international experience either through study, research collaborations, or professional stints abroad.
In alignment with our strategic goals for 2025–2030, the School is actively expanding and developing its faculty to ensure world-class teaching and research output. We are recruiting new professors with strong research records and global perspectives, and supporting current faculty in advancing their qualifications (for instance, faculty without doctorates are encouraged and supported to pursue PhDs, and existing PhD holders are mentored towards habilitation or advanced post-doctoral qualifications). This investment in faculty development is key to sustaining academic excellence.
Our professors are not only experts in their disciplines, but also passionate educators dedicated to student success. They employ innovative, student-centered teaching methods – from case-based learning to business simulations – creating an interactive classroom atmosphere. To remain at the forefront of pedagogical best practices, WSB faculty engage in continuous professional development.
Each year, the School organizes faculty workshops and training on modern teaching techniques, digital education tools, and research skills. Topics include student-centered learning approaches, effective case teaching, use of technology in hybrid/online instruction, and the integration of research findings into coursework. By 2026, 100% of our faculty will have participated in advanced pedagogy and research training as part of our Faculty Excellence program. This continuous learning ethos ensures that instructors are well-versed in cutting-edge knowledge and can deliver a rich learning experience that keeps pace with the evolving business landscape.
Moreover, the faculty’s diverse background – including seasoned academics, former corporate executives, consultants, and entrepreneurs – means that students benefit from a variety of perspectives and mentoring styles. Professors often bring real consulting projects or case studies from their own experience into the classroom, illustrating theory with concrete examples.
Research Excellence and Scholarly Output
WSB Business School prides itself on being a research-active institution, where faculty and students collaborate to advance knowledge in business and management.
Our research mission is twofold: to contribute to theory and academic discourse globally, and to create practical insights that have a positive impact on businesses, economies, and communities. Key areas of research strength include entrepreneurship and innovation, digital economy and fintech, organizational leadership and human resources, sustainable development in business, and regional economic development – all reflecting contemporary challenges and opportunities.
The School is building focused research clusters and centers of excellence in these domains. Notably, in 2026 we will launch a Center for Sustainable Business Research, dedicated to interdisciplinary studies on how business can drive social and environmental progress. This center will encourage faculty and PhD students to undertake projects on topics such as climate-smart business strategies, social entrepreneurship, and corporate social responsibility, reinforcing WSB’s commitment to sustainability in line with UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Our faculty members regularly publish their findings in high-impact international journals and present at prestigious conferences. To support and incentivize high-quality research, WSB Business School provides internal research grants and rewards for significant publications. Early-career academics receive mentorship in crafting research proposals and guidance in publishing, while all researchers are encouraged to seek external funding (e.g., national science grants or EU Horizon Europe projects). The School has set clear goals for research performance: for example, we aim to increase the number of faculty publications in Scopus/WoS-indexed journals by 50% from the 2024 baseline within the next few years. Another objective is to achieve national research excellence recognition (A+ category in Management) in the Polish evaluation system, a mark of top-tier research quality, which we are striving for through 2028.
Collaboration is a cornerstone of our research strategy. WSB’s scholars actively engage in international research partnerships and networks. The Business School has formal research collaboration agreements and Memoranda of Understanding with several top business schools in Europe, Asia, and the Americas, facilitating joint studies and exchange of researchers. Faculty are encouraged to undertake visiting scholar positions abroad and to invite foreign scholars to WSB as visiting professors or research fellows.
Every year, we host international research seminars and an annual conference that bring together academics from around the world to discuss emerging issues in business and economics. These efforts not only enrich our research output but also ensure that our work has global relevance and reach. Moreover, WSB University is an active member of international academic bodies – for instance, it holds the HR Excellence in Research award and participates in the European doctoral exchange programs – which further raises the quality of our research environment.
Faculty-Student Research Engagement
Research at WSB Business School is not confined to faculty alone; we actively involve students at various levels in scholarly activities, believing that research-informed teaching enhances learning outcomes. High-achieving undergraduate and master’s students have opportunities to assist on faculty research projects or join research interest groups, gaining firsthand experience in academic inquiry. Through our elective courses and seminars, students learn how to conduct studies, analyze data, and interpret results critically. The School also runs an annual Student Research Competition where students (often in teams) propose and execute small research projects under faculty supervision; winners receive recognition and sometimes the chance to present at conferences or publish in student journals.
At the doctoral level, student research is the core of the program – PhD candidates, as described in the Academic Programs section, produce original research that contributes to WSB’s research profile. Doctoral students, along with faculty, often form the nucleus of our research centers and are integral to the School’s most ambitious research endeavors, such as large-scale grants or international studies. The Business School fosters a culture of open inquiry and discussion: regular research colloquiums are held where faculty and doctoral researchers present works-in-progress to peers for feedback, ensuring a vibrant intellectual community on campus.
Finally, WSB Business School’s research activities are closely tied to its teaching and societal engagement. Insights from faculty research directly inform our curriculum – for example, findings from a faculty’s study on digital marketing trends might be integrated into course material within months. This keeps our teaching content cutting-edge and evidence-based. In turn, many research projects are inspired by challenges observed in practice or in our own “living laboratory” of WSB’s ecosystem. By maintaining this synergy between faculty research, student learning, and real-world application, the Business School fulfills its mission to generate knowledge that not only advances academic thought but also drives innovation and ethical practice in the business community. Our faculty and research endeavors thus stand as pillars of WSB’s reputation, reinforcing our status as a leading academic and research institution in Poland and the Central and Eastern Europe region.
